A thermal transfer ribbon has a plast backing coated with a dry ink. The ink is generally a wax, wax-resin, or full-resin formula. Full-resin thermal transfer formulas are the most durable and highest quality, and are most resistant to chemicals, UV and scratching. Full-resin thermal transfer ribbons work the best because they embed into they vinyl labeling tape.
We only sell full-resin thermal transfer ribbon because we understand that our customers only want the highest quality. Because we focus only on the highest quality, we are able to order in sufficient volumes to provide our customers with the best cost value balance.
Thermal transfer ribbons come in a variety of colors, and are generally sold in one-color per ribbon. Some thermal transfer ribbon manufacturers have tried creating paneled thermal transfer ribbons, which have a few inches of one color, followed by a few inches of another color. This is not cost effective, as many feet of thermal transfer ribbon are wasted in a single print. Paneled ribbons also increase the time it takes to print, which means you spend more time waiting for your labels.
