In most cases, it is better to install all of the software before connecting and powering on the SafetyPro printer. By waiting until the software is installed, your computer will be prepared with the proper driver when the system recognizes the printer for the first time.
You can reset the printer to factory default settings through the following procedure: 1. Turn off your printer power 2. Push and hold the button on top of your printer. Continue to hold through the next steps. 3. Turn the power back on 4. The light will blink 5 times red, five times amber, then five times green. Release the button on top when the printer starts on the sequence of green blinks. 5. The printer will feed material. When it is done, power it off and back on once. Your printer is now restored to factory default settings.
This problem is usually not hardware related. There are two
issues that generally cause this problem:
1. Driver not set properly - Locate the windows printer driver and
right-click, select Printing Preferences. Under the stock tab,
make sure your media setting is set to Thermal Transfer, and
NOT to Direct Thermal or Use Printer Setting.
2. Ribbon not loaded properly - improper supply loading can
cause the machine to appear to print, but produce blank
labels. Watch the loading video under the support section of
this website to make sure your ribbon is loaded properly.
This is a behavior of an older version of the driver. Please install the latest driver from the support page.
The different models of the SafetyPro may come with any of the following connectors on the back: USB, serial, centronics/parallel, and ethernet. The most commonly used connection is the USB. For the USB, you may use any standard USB printer/scanner cable, the SafetyPro printers do not require a special cable. This cable is technically called a "USB Type-A to USB Type-B" cable, and may be purchased online at a variety of vendors.
Customers with specific needs may use a serial, parallel, or usb-to-serial or usb-to-centronics cable. These cables have specific requirements, and are not considered standard. Consult with your local IT if you require a special cable or setup.
Customer who print over a network may use the ethernet port (optional on some SafetyPro printers). This port is setup using the diagnostic tool that ships on the driver CD.
